SmartCalc (smartcalc.com.au) provides free calculators for Australian users. Using our calculators doesn't require an account, sign-up, or entering any personal information. The numbers you type into a calculator — your income, property value, super balance, or similar — are processed entirely in your own browser using JavaScript running on your device. They are never transmitted to us, logged, or stored anywhere, by us or by any third party. This policy explains the limited information collected automatically by the site's hosting and advertising infrastructure, and applies to smartcalc.com.au and its subdomains.
Like most websites, SmartCalc and its third-party service providers may automatically collect certain information when you visit, including your IP address, approximate location derived from that IP address, browser type and version, device type, operating system, referring page, and pages viewed. This is standard web log and analytics data, collected by our content delivery network and advertising providers as part of normal web infrastructure, and is not linked to your name or identity by us. We do not run our own separate analytics tracking beyond what's described in this policy.
SmartCalc may use Google AdSense to display advertising. If advertising is enabled, Google and its partners may use cookies — small text files stored on your device — including the DoubleClick cookie, to serve ads based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet. Broadly, these fall into a few categories: strictly necessary cookies our hosting provider (Cloudflare) uses to serve the site securely and prevent abuse; and, if advertising is enabled, advertising cookies set by Google and its advertising partners to measure ad performance and, where you haven't opted out, personalise the ads shown to you. SmartCalc doesn't set any first-party tracking or marketing cookies of its own.
You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalised advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info. Most browsers also let you block or delete cookies directly through their own settings, though this may affect how ads (and some other sites) display. Because SmartCalc runs on globally distributed infrastructure, some of the automatically collected information described above is processed or transiently stored outside Australia. The site is served through Cloudflare's global edge network, and Google's advertising infrastructure operates primarily from the United States and other countries. Cloudflare and Google are established providers that publish their own privacy and security practices — see Cloudflare's Privacy Policy and Google's Privacy Policy — and we encourage you to review them. This isn't a formal Australian Privacy Principle 8 compliance assessment. We don't otherwise sell, license, or disclose any information to third parties for their own marketing purposes.
Because SmartCalc doesn't collect names, email addresses, or any other information that identifies you personally as part of using its calculators, there's generally nothing held about you individually that could be accessed, corrected, or deleted on request. If you believe we hold any personal information about you — for example, from an email you've sent to our contact address — you can ask us to access, correct, or delete it by writing to the contact address below, and we'll respond within a reasonable time. If you're not satisfied with how we've handled a privacy question or complaint, you can raise it with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC), Australia's independent privacy regulator.
If you're visiting from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, ads on this site are served in line with Google's EU User Consent Policy. Where required, a consent management tool will ask for your permission before personalised ads are shown, and you can change your choice at any time through that tool or through Google Ads Settings above. This is separate from, and in addition to, the Australian Privacy Principles protections described elsewhere in this policy.
SmartCalc is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will remove it.
Since SmartCalc's calculators run entirely in your browser and don't require sign-up, we don't hold an account database of user information, and there's no server-side store of the figures you enter to secure or retain. Any log or analytics data collected by our hosting or advertising providers is handled under their own respective security and retention practices, and is retained only for as long as those providers need it for the purposes described in this policy (typically a rolling window of weeks to a small number of months for standard web logs), not indefinitely by us.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal or regulatory reasons. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision. We encourage you to review this page periodically if you have ongoing privacy questions.
